A relation of the lives of the Lord Berkleys of Berkley Castle in the County of Gloucester, [ca. 1628].

Manuscript on paper, in a single hand, of biographies of the Berkleys beginning with Harding the Dane in 1066 to Lord George Berkeley "that yet liveth" in 1618. Volume 1 begins with a dedicatory letter to the family of the Berkleys. Several verses by the transcriber, signed J.A, appear at the end of Volume 3.

John Smyth (1567-1640), from Nibley in Gloucestershire, England, was one of the original promoters of plantations and settlements in the second Virginia colony in North America. He was the author of "Lives of the Berkeleys". From the guide to the Smyth of Nibley papers, 1613-1674, (The New York Public Library. Manuscripts and Archives Division.)
